Abstract:
Meta-narrative is one of the structures and characteristics of postmodern stories and novels. Meta-narrative appears in several ways and forms in the novel and can be reflected at all levels of the text such as: pre-text level, post-text level, post-text level. In this study, we will discuss the title as one of the constituent parts of the pre-text level. The title is the identity of any text and is considered as a gateway to any text, so it must be chosen artistically and the writer in general and the novelist in particular must deal with this part of the text carefully and consciously. Abdullah Saraj is one of the novelists who tries to reflect this phenomenon in his novels, which of course has its own purpose and goal. In this paper, we try to explain the meta-narrative nature of the titles of the novelist's two novels, Kaulash and Sonata of the Soul, and how meta-narrative is reflected in the titles of his novels.
Keywords: metanarrative, postmodernism, title, Kaulash novel, soul sonata novel.
