This study endeavors to undertake a symbolic anthropological interpretation of a theatrical performance presented in the city of Duhok. The core question centers around the utilization of anthropological symbols within the theatrical performance. In the second chapter, these symbols were explored and interpreted within the theoretical framework, coupled with understanding and analyzing the social and cultural roles in the Kurdish community and how they are employed in the sample performance.
Key findings of the study include:
- Character roles in the performance emerge as symbols reflecting specific concepts and values inherent in Kurdish culture.
- Each visual element on stage embodies a profound symbolic meaning intertwined with societal norms and values.
- Songs and music used in the performance articulate existential themes that often reveal societal emotions or psychological disturbances.
- The play, through its multifaceted critique, addresses various depictions of death as a criticism of societal customs, shedding light on the tragic outcomes of social challenges.
- Dialogues underscore tensions between everyday life and political influences, emphasizing social contradictions and the impacts of oppressive power dynamics.
