This research which is entitled “Ecology and Nature in the Contemporary Kurdish Poetry’’ attempts to study the contemporary Kurdish poetry from an ecocritical point of view. Apparently, ecocriticism is a unique theory among other new literary theories because it has a direct relation to the science of ecology. Ecocriticism first appeared at the end of the twentieth century and it deals with the relationship between literature and physical social environment. An eco-critic deals with the environmental crisis and ecocriticism can be simply defined as the study of the relation between human and non-human beings along the history and human culture, also the negative effects on the environment and its structure by human being. In addition, this research despite of arguing the significance of the ecocritical views in the human sciences, briefly it points at some important views and belief of the Kurdish and foreign writers concerning today’s global threats towards the environment as they are presented in literature. Furthermore, it is important for us to know how such a serious and critical issue is dealt with in Kurdish literature and especially how it is touched and projected in the Kurdish poetry.
