Abstract

When the villages became a safe haven for Kurdish political parties, because they were liberated or removed
from the control of the central government, the Iraqi Ba’athist regime undertook the practice of curricular
relocation of Kurdish villagers in the late 1980s , Relocating villagers to forced communities through the use of
various means of intimidation and cleansing.
The framework of the study is about the relocation of villages in Erbil province between 1991-1987. This
research consists of three main topics in the first topic we will highlight the main political reasons that led the
Ba’ath government to establish these forced societies, in the second topic we will investigate the social aspects
and conditions of forced societies and social consequences on their lives. We talk about the economy for the
establishment of communities, because we cannot understand the reasons for the creation of forced communities
and the relocation of people to these communities, without understanding the policy of destroying the economic
infrastructure of Kurdistan.
