For this research, which is titled (A theoretical framework for the views of "Hallyday" and "Fawcett" on systemic functional linguistics, the research focuses on Fawcett's views, sometimes as a complement to what Hallyday came about on the functional theory of language, and at other times as a criticism and correction of what Hallyday came up with. So Fawcett begins by saying, "When I say that Halliday is one of the most remarkable linguists of our time, it does not mean that I agree with his opinion in everything he said about functional linguistics. ( i.e. Halliday) is one of the linguists who left a clear imprint in contributing to the development of language philosophy and the development of linguistics in the twentieth century. The researcher sought to review the features of this development and its manifestations in Fawcett.Fawcett intensified his aspirations and analyzes in this regard by presenting the content of the opinions of two schools, namely the Sydney School and the Cardif on the rules of functional theory, and Fawcett tried in that to separate theory from linguistic description, which led to the emergence of different analyzes about form and meaning.Fawcett's analyzes and interpretations settled at a lower level than the level of expressions, so new terms such as unity, rank and group appeared. With new concepts. The research is divided into three chapters as follows: the first chapter, which is titled Functional Linguistics among the Structuralists, the second chapter reviews the concept of linguistic units and criteria, the third chapter is titled, Some Proposals for Some Hypotheses. Presentation of the results and conclusions and the arrangement of the sources is the conclusion of the research.
